Tim Harris
Tim was born in the UK but has spent around half his life overseas. He trained in Emergency Medicine, Prehospital Care and Intensive Care Medicine in Australia and UK. He worked in Emergency Medicine for 30 years, prehospital care for 15 years and intensive care for 10 years. He has worked in 43 hospitals in 11 countries and mixed training with travel for volunteer work in Africa, India and Samoa. Tim has been a Consultant in Emergency Medicine for 20 years and was appointed Professor Emergency Medicine at Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health in 2012. In 2018 he moved to Hamad General Hospital, Doha; one of the largest Emergency Departments in the world, seeing 1400-1800 patients daily. Currently, he works clinically at Barts Health and at QMUL as Professor Emergency Medicine.
Tim divides his academic time between teaching and research. His main interests are resuscitation, ultrasound and education. His research time is focused on facilitating and recruiting to large multicentre studies. He has published around 100 papers, delivered over 100 (inter)national lectures and leads an MSc in Emergency and Resuscitation Medicine at QMUL. He has been a member of RCEM and ICEM POCUS committees, and is a FRCEM examiner.
